Samantha and I have just started this blog, but we've been working since last fall to get the Curiosity and Mars rover exhibit ready for use. We decided to divide this exhibit into two sections: research and construction. Currently, we're finishing up research and will soon begin work on construction. Here's a rundown of what each of those entails.
Research is a very important part of any exhibit. Mainly, this consists of all of the information that we gather to make sure that we put accurate, interesting information on the exhibit panels for visitors to read. We used this research to help us decide on the exhibit's main themes and how the exhibit is laid out. Research also includes all of the preparatory work required for construction: finding the materials we need and their cost, developing a budget, and learning how to pilot the replica Curiosity are all part of the research we've been doing. We will be sharing some of our research on this blog (including all the extra tidbits we had to leave off the panels)!
Construction is the second major step in our project; this includes writing the exhibit panels, designing the case, and building each piece of the exhibit. In the next two months, we will be building the Curiosity case ourselves and documenting the process right here on this blog. It will include the challenges we face and how we go about solving them.
We look forward to acting as your hosts on this journey to Mars. More to come soon!
